Landmark Vaping Settlement: Juul & Altria to Pay $300 Million in False Advertising Case

Juul Labs and Altria have jointly agreed to a substantial $300 million settlement in a class action lawsuit, addressing allegations of false advertising and the deliberate concealment of the addictiveness of their e-cigarettes. The lawsuit claims that Juul Labs, a prominent e-cigarette company, strategically obscured safety concerns and addictiveness to expand its consumer base, including minors. No proof of purchase is necessary for consumers to participate in the settlement.

The settlement covers any individuals who purchased Juul pods and/or devices from retail stores, eCommerce sites, or the Juul website before December 7, 2022. Although Juul Labs has not admitted any wrongdoing, the company has agreed to the $255 million settlement to address the false advertising claims.

Altria has also committed an additional $45 million to settle the remaining claims in the case.
