Enhanced Recovery Co. has reached a $450,000 settlement over alleged violations of debt-collection laws, resolving claims of misleading letters in a recent class action lawsuit. The class comprises individuals who received debt collection letters from Enhanced Recovery Co., assuring account settlement but indicating that residual balances would remain with creditors. The lawsuit asserts that such letters violated state and federal laws, misleadingly suggesting the company could settle debts while asserting creditors would retain residual balances.

While Enhanced Recovery Co. denies wrongdoing, it opted for a $450,000 settlement to conclude the class action case. In adherence to the settlement terms, eligible class members stand to receive an equal share of the net settlement fund. Though precise payouts depend on claimant numbers, each is estimated to receive around $25. The deadline for exclusion and objection is Oct. 24, 2023, with the final approval hearing scheduled for Nov. 21, 2023.
