Cash App Data Breach: $15 Million Settlement Available for Affected Users

Consumers impacted by the Cash App data breaches in 2022 and 2023 may be eligible for compensation as part of a $15 million settlement.
The settlement covers current and former Cash App users whose account and personal information were accessed without their consent or who experienced unauthorized withdrawals or transfers between Aug. 23, 2018, and Aug. 20, 2024.
The class action lawsuit alleges that Cash App failed to adequately protect its users from data breaches that occurred in 2022 and 2023. The 2022 breach was reportedly caused by an employee’s unauthorized access to Cash App Investing accounts, while the 2023 breach involved third-party access using recycled phone numbers.
Cash App, a platform that enables users to transfer money, pay vendors, and invest, has denied any wrongdoing but agreed to the $15 million settlement to resolve the lawsuit.
